We're glad you're considering Cold Springs Farm certified organic grain products. Most of our ingredient grains are homegrown or purchased locally from other organic family farms. All of our crop inputs are organically approved soil amendments. There are absolutely no animal products in any of our grains.
On our farm, we practice sustainable agriculture in order to provide a healthy home for all life, including people, animals, crops, and soil. We feed our soils because their fertility is a biological process. The soils, in turn, feed the crops. Only the nutrients removed from the farm as crops and livestock need to be replaced. Very little nitrogen is purchased because this element is mostly supplied by symbiotic and nonsymbiotic processes. All purchased crop inputs are in their least processed and generally least expensive form; for the most part, they are recently mined, raw materials. About 75 percent of the nutrient value of all feed consumed by the animal returns as a nutrient input to the fields in the form of manure.
We firmly believe that healthy soils make healthy crops that result in healthy animals, including ourselves. Cold Springs Farm grain products bear out this philosophy. |
